Automotive

Durable, high-performance flooring systems for automotive service bays, manufacturing, and repair facilities.

Automotive Flooring Systems

Automotive facilities put constant abuse on concrete floors. Vehicle traffic, fluids, chemicals, equipment movement, and daily cleaning quickly break down bare concrete and poorly selected coatings.

Abate & Associates installs industrial flooring systems for automotive environments across Ontario. We work in manufacturing plants, assembly areas, service bays, dealerships, fleet facilities, body shops, and parts warehouses.

Where We Commonly Work

Automotive facilities are made up of multiple zones, each with different demands. We install flooring in areas such as production and assembly floors, service bays, wash bays, prep rooms, detailing areas, parts storage, battery charging rooms, paint prep areas, corridors, and pedestrian walkways.

What We’re Solving in Automotive Facilities

Most flooring failures in automotive environments are predictable. They happen when systems aren’t selected for real use.

Common issues we address include:

  • oil, fuel, coolant, and chemical contamination of concrete

  • worn or dusting concrete in high-traffic areas

  • slippery floors caused by fluids and washdown

  • impact damage from tools, carts, and equipment

  • failing coatings due to poor surface preparation or moisture vapor

  • unclear traffic flow between vehicles and pedestrians

Systems We Install for Automotive Environments

We match the flooring system to the area and the abuse it sees. A single automotive facility often requires several different systems.

Epoxy Flooring Systems

Epoxy flooring systems provide a durable, cleanable surface commonly used in service bays, production areas, parts storage, and traffic zones. Systems can be finished smooth for ease of cleaning or textured for added slip resistance where fluids are present.

Epoxy improves abrasion and chemical resistance compared to bare concrete and helps control dusting in active facilities.

1/4" Epoxy Trowel-Down and Mortar Systems

Epoxy trowel-down systems are used in heavy-duty or high-impact areas where additional thickness and durability are required. These systems are ideal for older or damaged concrete where a new seamless working surface is needed without full slab replacement.

Trowel-down systems provide increased impact resistance and can be installed with minimal disruption.

Safety Lines, Walkways, and Line Hatching

Clear traffic separation is critical in automotive facilities.

Using epoxy and resin systems, Abate & Associates installs durable safety lines, pedestrian walkways, and line hatching to separate forklift, vehicle, and foot traffic. Colour coding can be aligned with your facility safety program to improve awareness and reduce incidents.

Battery Storage and Charging Areas

Battery charging and storage areas are exposed to sulphuric acid, abrasion, and equipment traffic. These areas require containment and chemical-resistant flooring systems to protect the concrete and surrounding environment.

We install specialized containment systems designed to:

  • protect the concrete substrate

  • reduce chemical damage and long-term maintenance

  • improve safety for employees

  • reduce the risk of environmental contamination and regulatory issues

Concrete Polishing

Polished concrete is a practical option for dry automotive areas where a durable, low-maintenance surface is required. It is commonly used in showrooms, dealerships, corridors, offices, and parts storage areas.

Polishing increases surface hardness, reduces dusting, and provides a clean, professional appearance while keeping maintenance costs low.

How Abate Works in Active Automotive Facilities

We understand that automotive operations can’t stop for flooring work. Our team plans installations around uptime requirements, shutdown windows, and production schedules.

This includes mechanical surface preparation, concrete repair and detailing before coating, and phased installation when required to keep operations moving.
